Sonam Kapoor Takes Inspiration From Jaya Bachchan
Actress Sonam Kapoor has just finished the shooting of her latest film ‘Raanjhnaa’ which has been directed by ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ director Anand L. Rai.
In the film, Sonam has essayed a role of a Varanasi girl who is studying at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University. And for her role, she has taken inspiration from yesteryear’s actress Jaya Bachchan.
Apparently, Sonam was in search of a film from which she can borrow some inspirations to play her character. And after watching ‘Guddi’, she thought that Jaya Bachchan’s character in the film was quite similar to her character in ‘Raanjhnaa’. She also loved the way Jayaji had portrayed it and therefore she decided to play her character on the same line.
A source close to the project informs, “She shortlisted a few films and the character of ‘Guddi’ was found to be the closest to what she was going to portray.”
Sonam also confirmed the reports saying, “Jaya Bachchan’s classic performance in ‘Guddi’ inspired me.”
The young actress also admitted that she saw it many times to get her basics right for her role. “It was perfect for the character I was going to portray and I saw it over and over again,” said she.
Meanwhile, Sonam is nowadays busy shooting for Yash Raj Films’ next in Delhi. In the film directed by Nupur Asthana, Sonam has been paired up with Ayushmann Khurrana.
