Akshay KumarSince last four years, Salman Khan has enjoyed Eid releases of his films ‘Wanted’(2009), ‘Dabangg’(2010), ‘Bodyguard’(2011) and ‘Ek Tha Tiger’(2012). However, this year it would be Akshay Kumar who will have Eid release of his film.

According to the latest reports, Akshay Kumar has booked Eid 2013 and his ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2’ will hit the theaters during the festival, on August 8, 2013.

When contacted, producer Ekta Kapoor also confirmed the reports stating, “Yes, ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2’ will release on Eid this year.”

Apart from Akshay Kumar, ‘OUATIM 2’ also stars Imran Khan, Sonakshi Sinha and Sonali Bendre in the lead roles. And the makers believe that with Akshay leading the cast, they will hit the bull’s eye at the box office.

“The Eid slot has always been Salman’s. But this year, Akshay booked it first. And this sequel, which the makers are hoping will turn out to be better that its first installment, has an ensemble cast, all of whom have had good box-office records,” said a source close to the film.

On Salman’s front, the superstar was earlier planning to release Sohail’s ‘Sher Khan’ on the festival. But later, they decided to start another film called ‘Mental’ which is yet to go on floors. So, it’s certain that Salman won’t have Eid release this year.
