Akshay Kumar And John Abraham Took Two Years To Say ‘Yes’ To ‘Desi Boyz’
Akshay Kumar and John Abraham starrer ‘Desi Boyz‘ promos are currently doing around on TV and internet and people have loved their chemistry in the promos. However, it was not easy to get them on board and it took two years to convince them to do the film says Director Rohit Dhawan, son of film director David Dhawan who is making his directorial debut with the film.
Rohit says, “Coming from a film family, I did get initial access to Akshay and John. But post my first narration, and after they read the script individually, it really took me roughly two years of rewriting and convincing to get both of them to do their roles.”
But the director feels that Akshay and John are perfect for the lead characters his film has and he wanted only them to play the parts. “But I was ready to wait endlessly because I was sure that Akshay and John will make Jerry and Nick endearing and believable. And they have done exactly that,” said Rohit.
Rohit also believes that only because of good script, Akshay and John said yes to his film.”Only after they liked the script, they called me. Otherwise, why would they waste their time on something they don’t like? And why would anyone risk his or her career over a relationship? Actors are very possessive about their careers,” he said.
“Like any newcomer, I have done narrations with him at 6.30 am on his drive to the Film City. Then, I used to get down at Film City, get into my car and go home. I didn’t get any special treatment. I was treated like a newcomer. But John and Akshay reacted very well and asked me to come back with the screenplay. Then I worked on two to three drafts. It was an 18 month-long writing process,” adds Rohit.
