I Was 120 Percent Wowed By Sajid’s ‘Himmatwala’ Script : Ajay Devgn
Actor Ajay Devgn is playing the lead role in director Sajid Khan’s ‘Himmatwala‘ which is a remake of Jitendra and Sridevi’s superhit 1983 film by the same name.
So, what made him to sign the film? Ajay replies that he got completely bowled when Sajid narrated him the script for the first time.
“Sajid Khan came to me with ‘Himmatwala’, and though I liked the idea, I didn’t know how he was going to adapt it. To do the film, I would have to be 100 percent convinced about the script. Turned out, I was 120 percent wowed,” says Ajay Devgn.
The film has been set in 1980s and Ajay is happy to be working in the period film again. He is also planning to grow his hair just like the actors of 80s had.
“I enjoyed Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai (2010) that was set in the ’70s. This one takes place in the ’80s and I’m planning to grow my hair for two months because everybody had longer hair back then,” says Devgn adding “Himmatwala isn’t strictly a remake, however.”
Original ‘Himmatwala’ is still remembered for it’s dance numbers ‘Nainon Mein Sapna’ and ‘Taki O Taki’ which are being recomposed for the remake. But Ajay says that he won’t try to dance like Jitendra as he is not a great dancer.
“I won’t be aping anyone. I’ll do steps that suit me. Dancing requires an inherent grace. It’s too late for me to develop that. But recently ‘Bol Bachchan’ required me to shake a leg. I was surprised when my daughter Nyasa, who loves dancing, complimented me. Hopefully, she’ll approve of ‘Himmatwala’ too,” asserts Ajay.
‘Himmatwala’ starring Ajay Devgn and Tamannaah is being produced by Vashu Bhagnani and UTV Motion Pictures. The film is slated to release on March 29, 2013.
